International Women’s Day
The Women Who Shape Us
At Society Nautique Jewelry, every piece tells a story. This International Women’s Day, I wanted to share the stories of the women who have shaped mine — the women whose strength, creativity, compassion, and resilience live quietly inside every design I create.
Jewelry, to me, has always been about more than adornment. It’s about legacy. It’s about honoring where we come from and who we are becoming. And I am who I am because of these women.
My Mom: Strength & Love
My mom is hands down the most inspiring woman I know — she is a pediatrician the kind of doctor who remembers not just her patients’ charts, but their stories. If you were lucky enough to be Dr. Curtis' patient you probably shared all your deepest darkest secrets with my Mom and she spent hours with you and loved every minute of it. She built a career rooted in service and compassion, showing up day after day for families who trust her with their children.
But beyond her work ethic and brilliance, she gave me something just as powerful: unconditional love and support and always the push to follow my passion for the creative bug.
She taught me that it’s possible to be both deeply driven and deeply creative. That you can build a meaningful career and still nurture imagination. She supported me and my brothers fully — cheering us on, believing in us, and modeling what it looks like to pursue excellence with heart.
So much of my courage to build this brand comes from watching her build her life and still continuing to help us build ours.
My Grandmother: Courage & Service
My grandmother’s story has always felt extraordinary to me. She worked as a nurse in the leper colonies in Molokai, Hawaii — stepping into spaces that required not just medical skill, but immense bravery and compassion.
She chose service. She chose humanity. She chose to see people not for their illness, but for their dignity in a time when people still believed the disease was contagious my grandmother stepped up with pride.
That kind of quiet courage stays in a family. It becomes part of the fabric. It reminds me that beauty and strength are often found in the most selfless acts — and that meaningful work is work that serves others.
She was also a deeply creative woman, and I have so many memories of visiting her and creating things, paintings, making quilts, sticker books and scrapbooks, she was always game for anything creative with me.
Women in Motherhood and Business Who Inspire Me
Building a business can sometimes feel lonely — but I am so grateful to be surrounded by women who lead with passion, talent, and authenticity.
Jenna Menard is a true artist I'm lucky to call a friend. As a professional makeup artist and brand founder, she has built a business rooted in creativity, confidence, and empowerment. Watching her navigate entrepreneurship with grace and determination inspires me constantly. She reminds me that when women support women, magic happens. Danielle Decker is another incredible example of what it looks like to build something beautiful from the ground up. As an interior designer, shop owner, and devoted mother, she balances artistry and business with such authenticity. She creates spaces like no other designer I know, they always feel warm and unique and intentional — and she lives her life the same way.
These women show me that success doesn’t have to look one way. It can be creative. It can be maternal. It can be bold. It can be gentle. It can be all of it at once.

Why Women Are So Special to Me
Women carry stories.
We carry families. Businesses. Friendships. Ideas. Communities.
We hold each other up in quiet moments. We cheer each other on. We pass down courage through generations — sometimes without even realizing it.
Society Nautique Jewelry is, in many ways, my love letter to that legacy. Every piece is meant to feel personal, lasting, and meaningful — something you can wear through every season of your life.
This International Women’s Day, I am honoring the women who built me — and celebrating all of you who are building something of your own.
Here’s to strength.
Here’s to softness.
Here’s to courage.
Here’s to women.
With love,
Lizzie
